About GO2

The summer of 2001 in Washington, DC was a fairly typical one for the area, featuring a muggy, oppressive heat and the occasional “Code Red Day.” These are days when the air pollution is judged so severe, and the smog so thick, that authorities recommend that people with asthma, emphysema and other respiratory conditions do not go outside. Perfectly healthy people are even cautioned against outdoor exercise. One particular day that summer, a university professor stood at the front of a lecture hall droning on about this or that; his apparent enthusiasm for the topic only a slim cut above that of his dazed-looking, droopy-eyed audience. The room was warm and stuffy, the lack of fresh air acting like an irresistible drug on each sleepy expression.

Except one.

Unlike her sagging neighbors on either side, she sat scribbling excitedly across the page as invisible light bulbs flashed one after another in her head. She was experiencing one of those rare moments of inspiration we all adore and crave—a passing glimmer of brilliance that quickly fades, leaving awe (and maybe a dropping jaw) in its wake. And what was this breathless, captivating idea? PORTABLE OXYGEN!

Why?

Thinking back, it seems only natural that someone should come up with the idea of portable oxygen. Indeed, having no alternative to breathing polluted air is constricting, like being stuck in an elevator. If people take breaks for coffee or a smoke, why can’t they break for oxygen?

With pollution on the rise, clean air is quickly following the path laid out by clean water a decade ago. Once taken for granted, its increasing scarcity has made the idea of bottling it rather less ridiculous than it once was. Yet, why put clean air in a bottle when all we really want from it is oxygen? Why not bottle that instead? Assuring the source and quality of something we rely upon so heavily is not only healthy and comforting, but necessary. And so the POD™ was born…

What?

Contemporary American society is constantly in motion, bustling busily from home to work to gym to school and finally—hopefully—bed. Cell phones, fast food, take out, coffee and bottled water all feed our active lifestyle, helping us to achieve still greater heights of on-the-go productivity.

The Personal Oxygen Device (POD™) fits smoothly into this highly active, mobile culture by providing a natural source of balance and rejuvenation.

The POD™ is quick and easy to use, unlike the products offered by competitors and oxygen bars around the world. The POD™ has a distinctive look and feel, escaping the medical appearance of similar products on the market today. Sleek but small, it can be used with one hand, either hand, or both depending on personal preference and timing demands. Slightly taller and skinnier than a soda can, the POD™ can satisfy your body’s need for oxygen without cramping its style.

How?

Two and a half years of careful research, painstaking product refinement and testing finally brought forth a new, patented product to the national market: the POD™. Sometimes this meant working at a café until 2 am on a Saturday night, driven by nothing but a cup of coffee and a pesky old daydream. Other days a morning filled with hot tea and yoga had us tasting success, energized and ready to take on every challenge. Carried through by strong perseverance and dedication, GO2 LLC received its first funding in May, 2004. It has been riding a wave of pure, oxygenated energy ever since—satisfying a loyal and growing customer base of happy brains and bodies.
